In 1994 my doctor sent me for private consultation and treatment at
a local hospital because of my continuing back pain. After months of
wrong diagnosis by 3 doctors, an epidural followed by endless physiotherapy,
my back pain had increased. Having spent over £3,500 , I was sent
home with painkillers to take when the pain was worse than usual!
A friend advised me to see Louise at Parkwood as he had been happy with
the treatment he had received there. After my first meeting, she was
able to tell me exactly what the problem was by examining me and studying
my x-rays correctly. It was explained to me that my lower spine had
worn due to years of rugby and weight training. The first thing I had
to stop doing was the pointless and damaging exercises previously given
to me. I was told it would be a very slow recovery, but I would be able
to see a big improvement and would be able to greatly reduce the pain
and discomfort and learn how to manage my problems into the future.
Along with the treatment I was advised to see a nutritionist to help
with my diet as I still weight trained. I am able to train due to the
help Louise has given me by showing me correct posture whilst lifting.
When my back was stronger, I was sent me to see a personal trainer to
strengthen up lower back and abs. I see Louise approx. once a month
to make minor adjustments and to rectify any complaints I may have.
My life changed greatly over the last six years and I would like to
thank Louise who is not only my chiropractor but is now a dear friend.

For many years I have suffered from severe pains in my lower back, my
right shoulder and neck. The quality of my life had gradually gone down
hill, many things that I was used to doing I suddenly found I either
needed help or was unable to do. The love of my life playing football,
I had now accepted would never happen again. On a bad day getting my
socks on or trying to get through the day as 'pain-free' as possible
became more of a priority. The simple task of lifting my baby son from
his cot or even picking him up when he had fallen could end up giving
me days of suffering.
My G.P. was very sympathetic, but his help went as far as painkillers,
anti-inflammatory drugs and sessions of physiotherapy. This did very
little other than mask an underlying problem I felt that I had. I had
accepted that this was now a way of life for me; at 35 I was on the
scrap heap!
My suffering gradually became worst and on my brother's insistence I
visited Parkwood Chiropractic Clinic. From my first visit I started
to feel better. Initially more mentally than physically, because at
last I had someone listening to me, really listening. I had someone
explaining things to me, not in medical terms but in my language. I
had someone who drew me diagrams and showed me models to help me understand
my injury and how my body was coping with it. I was told that my problem
could have stemmed from an old injury. I was told that there would be
no miracle treatment, that the proposed treatment would take time, possibly
as long as a year, but the most important thing I was told was that
I would be helped. This felt so good to hear.
I started treatment straight away. Gradually I found that the pain was
appearing less and less and I found myself struggling to remember the
last time I had pain or had taken a pain killer. I could feel my quality
of life returning.
I still visit the clinic for 'maintenance sessions', a case of this
old car now needs the 'odd tweak' to keep 'tuned up' I have had a new
baby daughter who I have been able to enjoy so much more and last month
I played for my works football team!

“Following a decompression operation in May 1996, I experienced
4½ years of back and neck pain and tension headaches. My GP recommended
pain-killers and rest, a physiotherapist issued me a padded neck brace
which caused more discomfort. In Spring 2001 I approached the clinic,
fully expecting them to turn me away. But after studying x-rays of my
skull and neck, we began a course of treatment. The difference it has
made to my life cannot be over estimated. My posture has improved and
most days are completely pain-free. I can sleep at night and think clearly
by day. I wish I’d tried this years ago!”

“Before I started a course of treatment , I invariably used to
suffer from pulled hamstrings and calf strains following training, and
aches and pains generally in my knees, hips and shoulder. However, since
my treatment I find I am much more supple, do not suffer any longer
with aching limbs, especially at night and find training a much more
pain-free and enjoyable experience”

“Louise, just a little note to thank you for all your help and
support so far. Without you I certainly wouldn’t be on the long
road to recovery”

“Just a word to say thank-you for the treatment I’ve received
over a number of years. As a result I am now able to do many every-day
things more freely than I ever was before. I am feeling very much stronger
and therefore able to play sports comfortably whereas before it was
almost impossible”

“As a firefighter, my back and fitness is vital to my work. After
just one treatment I was back training, and after 3 treatments I am
now looking forward to running a 10k race”

“Having suffered with back problems for a number of years, I was
advised in the summer of 1996, after having a series of x-rays, to attend
the clinic of the local chiropractor. The pain in my back varied with
the type of work I was undertaking, and occasionally I suffered a severe
attack when I had the greatest difficulty in standing-up properly. For
the first few weeks I did not notice any significant improvement, but
gradually the pain and discomfort has decreased and nowadays the really
bad attacks rarely happen. Depending upon the type of back complaint
a person is suffering from, I can recommend Parkwood Chiropractic Clinic
for treatment as a way of controlling an arthritic condition in the
back.”

“Having suffered headaches, quite bad ones, for over thirty years
I can honestly say that it all seems to be behind me now, since I was
recommended to visit Parkwood Chiropractic clinic a couple of years
ago. My continual stiff neck is also a thing of the past. When it does
show signs of stiffening, a treatment with Louise certainly does the
trick. I would certainly recommend anyone with similar problems to go
to the clinic.”
